A 57-year-old man has been arrested on the charge of raping a 7-year-old girl in Susta Rural Municipality-1 of Parasi district, on Saturday, Police said today.

According to District Police Office, Kewal Chamar lured the minor and took her to his nearby toilet before committing a heinous crime. The girl was on her way to a nearby shop to buy sweets before falling prey into the perpetrator’s clutches on Saturday morning, police shared.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team deployed from the Area Police Office Beltari and Kudiya Police Post intercepted and arrested the suspect as the villagers were trying to reconcile the case in the village, police said.

Similarly, a 50-year-old woman with speech impairment has also been brutally raped at Kaurani in Devchuli Municipality-3 of Parasi district.

The victim, who was found in the subconscious state, is undergoing treatment at the local Dumkauli Health Centre, in the district, police added.

Meanwhile, police are yet to identify the culprits and the investigation is underway.
