Police arrested grandparents on charges of poisoning 7-years old Ritu Dagaura of Suklaphanta municipality-10 Toti, Kanchanpur.
43-year-old Reshmi Dagaura and 60-year-old Bhathari Dagaura were taken into custody after their daughter-in-law, Jyoti Dagaura filed a case against them on Wednesday. She continuously vomited after eating rice on February 5, died while being taken to the hospital.
According to Inspector Ramesh Dutt Awasthi, Ritu's grandmother gave a statement that she was angry with her granddaughter so she bought poison and mixed it in rice and fed it to her. She admits that she made a terrible mistake. Police also recovered the poison bottle from the house.
The victim blood sample has been sent for the examination. Police have registered a case and further investigation is ongoing.
