Situation turned tense in Janakpur after a local representative manhandled a local business owner on May 17. Ward chairperson of ward 7 of Janakpur sub-metropolitan city Janaki Ram Sah thrashed operator of Green Tailors during a dispute over waste disposal on Friday. The deputy-mayor of the sub-metropolitan city Rita Mishra was also present at the time of the incident.
The dispute started when deputy-mayor Mishra enquired the owner of the tailor Aslam about the trash dumped in-front of his shop. Ward chairperson Janaki Ram thrashed Aslam when he replied that the trash had piled as cleaners of the municipality were on a strike. Local business owners later picketed the office of deputy-mayor demanding apologies from them.
