Province 1, Sunsari, Itahari
Dwarik Lal Chaudhary, mayor of Itahari Sub metropolitan City, has come in the spotlight again after a call record between the mayor and journalist Birat Anupam was uploaded in social sites. In the voice recording, Mayor Chaudhary threatens to ‘break journalist Birat Anupam’s nose’.
According to the journalist, he had made a call to the mayor in order to ask why the mayor commented “Chatukar Patrakar’ on one of his photos uploaded in Facebook. But in reply, instead of answering to the question, the mayor said that he had allocated Rs10 million to ‘break his neck’.
The Mayor has been dragged into controversy time to time since his assumption of the post after the election. Previously, the mayor has been accused of beating a non gazetted officer inside the office and making a ‘hand gesture to the journalist’ while questioning him.
Dwarika Lal Chaudhary was elected during 2018 local level election as the mayor of Itahari Sub metropolitan city. He was contesting the elections representing Nepal Communist Party for the post.
