Province 1, Sunsari, Itahari
On the occasion of World Environment Day, while Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Kathmandu inaugurated a campaign for planting fruit plants by planting avocado seedlings, in Itahari people became the tree plants themselves.
On Wednesday morning, a group of youths went out to the road carrying branches and leaves. As they headed towards the Dharan line through the main chowk of Itahari, wherever they found the trunks of a tree cut down, they stood there with the branches and leaves.
A few days ago, roadside trees were cut down while extending the roads, completely degrading the greenery of Itahari. The students of Itahari Kalalay creatively protested against this by standing as tree themselves.
Sonu Jayanti, the Dramatist, and President of the Kalalay Itahari, said that performing arts is used to protect the trees and environment on the occasion of World Environment Day.
