A woman of Sitganga-1, Suwarnakhola of Arghakhanchi died in a beating by her husband.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Basanta Khatri, a resident of Sitganga-1 Mandre Ghartisara. Basanta's maternal family filed a complaint at police saying that she died after her husband Bishnu Khatri, 35, banged her head on the wall on June 3 while he was heavily drunk. She started bleeding from nose and ear and eventually died, reported the family.
Police deployed from Area Police Office Thada arrested Bishnu. He lied to the police by saying that his wife had died by committing suicide. The post-mortem of the victim's body at district hospital revealed that she had been beaten. Bishnu later confessed to police that she died due to his beating and he had put a rope around her neck to hide his crime.
Police are further investigating the inicident. The accused is currently in custody after an extension from the District Court.
