Kin of deceased accuse hospital of neglignece

Tension rose high at Om Hospital and Research Centre after the family and friends of a patient, who died this morning following a post-operation complication staged a protest at the hospital throughout the day. Ram Pyari Thapa,50, a permanent resident of Indrawati Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchowk district had undergone gall stone surgery last Friday at the hospital. The next day Thapa complained of abdominal her problem, on Sunday, two days after the operation. 

Family and friends Thapa have accused the hospital and doctors involved in surgery of negligence, saying they inflicted a wound in Thapa's small intestine, which ultimately took her life.

They blamed the hospital administration of negligence even when the pateine that frequently complained of abdominal pain a few hours after she had gained consciousness following the operation.

The hospital administration called a press meet today and refused to acknoledge negligencce in the case, saying the surgery was conducted susessfully.

The surgery had gone just fine, if there had occurred any problems in the course of surgery, I am sure our expert medical team would have to address it, said Babu Kaji Karki, managing director of a hospital. 

The medical director of the hospital KP Devkota said," We noticed that patient's small intestine had started oozing stool like substance the next day after the operation, which we believe was not linked with the gall stone operation.

We did our best to heal her wound, but couldn't save her". Devkota added post-operation complication w=could be the cause of her death, as Thapa had undergone abdomen related surgery three times. 

Rita Thapa Magar, a close relative of Thapa, said they would not receive the body of the deceased until the decor leading the operation submitted an apology to the victim's kin. Others staging a protest at the hospital demanded that the doctors license be scrapped.
