Mayor Ramesh Kumar Basnet of Manthali Municipality of Ramechhap was attacked during the executive meeting on June 17. He was attacked by the executive members while meeting was operating.

The municipality has organized a press meet and informed about the incident of attack. Mayor Basnet said that ward chair Ram Bahadur Karki of ward 5, ward chair Krishna Hari Adhikari of 12 and executive member Uddhav Ramtel attacked him with chair and glasses on demanding the budget for the old and incomplete project. He sustained head injuries in an attack.

The municipality released a press statement and stated that the mayor was attacked during 27th meeting. Mayor Basnet also said that he is not scared with such attack and will do his work as per law.
