A policeman injured during clash between Police and Students

30-year-old Surendra Mahat, a policeman at District Police Office, Surkhet was injured during a clash at the celebration of the ninth anniversary of the Midwestern University. Police have arrested 14 students involved in the clash.

According to DSP Pradip Kumar Chhetri of the District Police Office, Surkhet, policeman Mahat who sustained an injury of his nose is being treated at Deuti Nursing Home in Surkhet.

The students clashed on the topic of distribution of courtesy t-shirt provided by various private colleges in Kathmandu during the anniversary of the university organized by the university on June 18.

Arrestees of the incidents are 28-year-old, Chairman of ANNFSU Dhupendra Shahi, 36-year-old, Central Member of NSU Hari Sharma, 24-year-old Newton Oli, 27-year-old Amarjung Shahi, 25-year-old Saroj Neupane, 26-year-old Bharat Gautam, 25-year-old Ganesh Shahi, 26-year-old Rajan K.C, 28-year-old Mahendra Thapa, 27-year-old Chitra Sunwar, and 25-year-old Janak Dhamala.

Students started disrupting the program demanding the anniversary celebration should be held without a courtesy t-shirt.

According to Chairman, Dhupendra Shahi, they had submitted a memorandum to university requesting the celebration to be held without distributing the courtesy t-shirts, however the university neglected their request, due to which they resorted to protest.
