2019-06-19

Sudurpashchim, Bajura, Badimalika

locals took to the street and staged a rally against the scarcity of drinking water for the past two weeks in Bajura headquarters Martadi today morning.

Martadi has been reeling under acute shortage of drinking water ever since the pipe of the comprehensive drinking water project was cut off during construction of a road. Locals staged a rally demanding that the pipe be laid and water supplied immediately.

The agitating locals also padlocked Badimalika Municipality office. Trader Hansha Bahadur Singh said Martadi was reeling under acute water shortage ever since a dozer cut the supply pipe during road construction. Singh said the locals were forced to hit the street as the municipality didn't bother to relieve their plight for a long time.  Another local trader Surendra Nath said locals were facing water crisis as water pipe was cut off during road construction by the municipality. He demanded that the pipe be repaired immediately and water supplied to the thirsty locals immediately.

Comprehensive Martadi Drinking and Sanitation Consumers' Committee Manager Surya BK pledged to provide drinking water to the locals shortly." We are making efforts to solve the problem of water shortage," BK said.

CDO Ganga Prasad Neupane said discussion would be held to resolve the problem as soon as possible.
