Citing that the trend of arresting journalists on false charges were increasing Federation of Nepalese journalist staged a sit-in infront of Makwanpur District Administration on Thursday demanding the annulment of Article 47 and 48 of Electronic Transaction Act. The sit-in was staged as a part of FNJ's nationwide protest program. President of federation of journalist of Makwanpur, Hari Humagai, said they staged the sit-in to pressure the government to anull Articles of the ETA under which journalists were being arrested.
FNJ is preparing to submint a memorandum to Ministry of Communication and Technology demanding Press Freedom. Meanwhile, journalist Arjun Giri who was arrested for writing a report of fraud by businessman Bipendraraj Batas has been released on bail by the court.
