A group of youths vandalized an Indian truck carrying fruits and vegetables at around 3 am on July 9 in Metropolis Fruits and Vegetable Market. The front mirror of the truck, which had four thousand kilograms of mangoes, is broken. Eyewitnesses said that the youths who came on a scooter vandalized the truck. In an attempt to burn the truck, they sprayed the petrol over the truck but fled from the scene when their matchstick did not light up.
Thir Prasad Dhital, the market management director, said that about 10 to 12 trucks carrying fruits and vegetables regularly came to Narayangadh. However, those vehicles arrive Narayanghat only sporadically since the news about sub-standard fruits and vegetables came to limelight, he added.
