26-year-old Ganeshman Ghale and 29-year-old Surya Narayan Tamang of Naukunda Rural Municipality-3 have been accused of beating 43-year-old Raju Shrestha, Ward Secretary of Naukunda Rural Municipality.

Employees of the rural municipality have halted all work by locking the office in protest of assault on Shrestha by the duo on July 9. According to the employees of the rural municipality, the two were drunk at the time of the incident.

Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality Lokhari Thapa said in a statement issued on July 9 that the office would be closed until the security of the employee is guaranteed and the accused are brought to justice.

According to Chief Administrative Officer Thapa, Shrestha, who was injured in the beating on July 8, was treated at a local Pachyang health institute.
