Police arrested 42-year-old Madan Chaudhary on July 24 on the charge of raping a 6-year-old girl. Chaudhary is a permanent resident of Gauradaha Rural Municipality-1 in Jhapa and was living in Melung Rural Municipality-4. 

The victim's family filed a complaint at Melung Police Office on July 24 stating that Chaudhary raped the girl earlier on the same day. The police arrested the accused on the same day and the victim's family filed a written complaint on July 25.

The victim's medical examination was conducted at the Primary Health Center Charikot on July 25.
