Situation in Chitwan on Saturday has tensed as supporters of Rabi Lamichhane have clashed with the police demanding the immediate release of Lamichhane.
Police lathi-charged the protesters to take control of the situation as the mob pelted stones. “Police have also fired two-round tear gas,” the spokesperson of District Police Office Chitwan DSP Naryan Koirala informed. The protestors smashed the windscreen of the police van.
According to DSP Koirala, security has deployed a large number of security forces from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force in various quarters to take the situation in control.
Rabi Lamichhane, a TV program presenter along with two others was held from Kathmandu on Thursday in connection with the suicide case of journalist Salik Ram Pudasaini. In the video, Pudasaini had blamed Lamichhane, his colleague Yuvraj Kandel and a nurse Asmita Karki for forcing him to commit suicide.
Chitwan District Court approved for five-day detention of Lamichhane, Kandel and Karki.
