20-year-old Bechani Devi Das of Harinagar Rural Municipality-1 died under suspicious circumstances on August 19 when her husband, 24-year-old Birendra Mandal was not at home. Bechani Devi was pregnant. 

The victim's maternal uncle made a verbal complaint of murder against the deceased's in-laws. However, Inspector Arjun Pokharel of District Police Office Sunsari shared that the in-laws are under surveillance but there isn't enough evidence to arrest them. 

The body of the deceased is kept at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. The police informed that they will take further action once they get the post-mortem examination. 

According to Tomraj Mahato, a neighbor of the family, a blue mark was seen on the deceased's neck which suggests that the in-laws strangled her.
