Sugarcane farmers of Kapilvastu agitated in the road after not receiving grant money announced by the government. They blocked the east-west highway for three hours of Shivraj Municipality-1, Chandrauta on Wednesday for grant money.
Sugarcane farmers had called for a strike for an unlimited time frame for not receiving grants from the government. The police opened the road after three hours using force.
Chairman of Farmers Association Kapilvastu Anup Kumar Kumar Chaudhary said that they were forced to call a strike after the government refused to make payment.
