Today, women padlocked the Kalikamai Rural Municipality-2, Bhedihari, Parsa. Jayanti Devi Chaursiya of Gadimai Women's Group said that when the dozens of women from Bhedihari reached out to the ward chairperson saying their rights have been misused, the ward chairperson ignored their demands due to which they were obliged to padlock.
According to Soni Devi Kanuki of Saraswati women's group, women have become angry because the budget allocated for the women has been used in the commission-based plans rather than for women's rights by Sonalal Chaursiya, Ward Chairperson, Nathuni Kushwaha, Chairperson of Chaursiya Rural Municipality, Rajesh Chaursyia, Vice-chairperson.
Gadhimai, Saraswatimai and Kalikamai women groups of Bhedihari have padlocked and are protesting with demands as awareness programs for women should be conducted, the arrangement of training, arrangement of skill-oriented training for employment generation, distribution of goats, etc.
