The dispute between the mayor and the deputy mayor of Ramgopalpur municipality in Mahottari has escalated on the eve of Municipal Council. Deputy mayor Sita Sah padlocked the municipality office over the dispute with Mayor Ashok Mandal.

The Municipal Council scheduled to be held in Tuesday has become uncertain after the deputy-mayor padlocked the office on Tuesday. Deputy Mayor Sah has accused the municipality of not preparing anything and misappropriating the budget of development grants received from the federal government without taking any interest in the taxes within the city.

Accusing the mayor of the municipality of engaging in financial irregularity in collusion with the ward chairpersons, Deputy-mayor Sah, said that he was compelled to padlock the office after the mayor ignored her repeated complaints about interference in his work by the mayor's secretary. Organizing a  press conference, Deputy mayor said she padlocked the office with the help of locals.
