Mayor of Balara Municipality, Sarlahi staged a sit-in demanding the padlock at the municipality office to be opened. On Sunday, Mayor Avay Kumar Singh staged the sit-in for one and half hour along with two dozen locals. The municipality office has been padlocked by a group in the leadership of Deputy Mayor Ram Sakhiya Devi with the majority of ward chairpersons form the last 2 and half months. Mayor Singh said, "the deputy mayor and ward chairpersons had accused him with unnecessary blames and padlocked the municipality office."
The release of the salary of staffs, release of social security fund and the work of the municipality has been stopped by the padlocking' he added. CDO Drona Pokharel said Mayor Singh had not responded to the invitation for discussing on the issues but the deputy mayor and ward chairpersons are ready to solve the problem.
