Security personnel and drug traffickers exchanged fires at Makwanpur. District Police Office, Makwanpur has arrested 43-year-old Kumar aka Raju Syangtan on the charge of open firing against police.
On Saturday night, acting on a tip-off when the police team tried to take down the smugglers, drug traffickers opened fire on the police. Police made the arrested Syangtan public through a press conference on Sunday; However, other four smugglers have succeeded to abscond. Police have seized 31Kgs of marijuana.
Police have recovered a home-made gun, one round of used bullet shells, five live round from Syangtan. According to Spokesperson and DSP Yagya Prasad Bhattarai, during the exchange of fire, Police Assistant Inspector Nabin Bikram Thapa has been injured.
