Police arrested a youth from Makadum of Khanda Devi Rural Municipality in Ramechhap today after he was accused of rape.

The accused has been identified as Arjun Thapa of Doramba Rural Municipality.

Police said Thapa had raped a six-year-old girl of the rural municipality last evening. The accused was held while he was fleeing to Kathmandu in a bus.

Ramechhap District Police Office Chief DSP Santosh Kumar Bhattarai  said the accused had raped the minor after luring the girl to his home saying he would allow her to play games on his mobile phone.

The relatives of the victim filed a first information report with the police after the minor told her mother about the incident. The arrested has been kept in police custody and further investigation into the incident is under way, said police.

Meanwhile, the minor’s health check-up was carried out and bruises were found in her private part, according to police.
