Rape accused sentenced to 11 years in prison

The District Court Bardiya on October 20 sentenced 19-year-old Arun Tharu, a permanent resident of Gulariya Municipality-5 to 11 years in prison after finding him guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl.
The court also ordered him to pay a fine of rupees 75 thousand to the victim. According to Shrestedar Yam Prashad Baskota of District Court Bardiya, the verdict was issued by a bench of justice Shankarraj Baral.
The victim's family had lodged a complaint against Tharu at District Police Office on May 2 accusing him of raping the girl on April 30.
