The locals of Aarughat Bazar called for a strike on November 18 demanding the determination of compensation for their land which will be underwater during the construction of the Budigandaki project. The residents of other affected areas other than Aarughat and Aarkhet of Gorkha and Bishalnagar and Khahare of Dhading have already received the compensation. The market, offices, educational institutes, and transportation of the area are affected by the strike.
The chief administrative officers of Dhanding and Gorkha district have reasoned the demand of exorbitant amounts of compensation as the impediment towards the determination of the compensation amount. The Concerned Committee is meeting with the leaders of political parties and their representatives concerning their programs of protest.
