The locals of Aarughat Rural Municipality, on December 3, in the leadership of the Budi Gandaki Concern Committee padlocked the office of the rural municipality citing inadequate compensation and arbitrary classification of their land in Aarughat and Aarkhet. They also called for a general strike in Aarughat city. The daily lives of residents of Aarughat have been affected by the strike. The general strike will continue indefinitely, said Jagannath Khanal, the chairperson of the concerned committee.
Earlier, the government had allocated the compensation amount from Rs.50,000 to Rs 700,000 per aanna for the land on December 1.
