Police, on December 11, rescued two girls, 20-year-old Renu Raad, and a 15-year-old girl-- who were held captive by 24-year-old Bablu Rand.  Renu is the wife of Bablu while the 15-year-old girl is the sister of Bablu. Bablu is accused of physically assaulting them by locking them at home.

Police arrested the accused Bablu on December 12. Bablu kept two girls hostage all day and beat them up in the night, said Bablu's father. Renu is into the third month of pregnancy. The girls were rescued on the initiative of activists and representatives of the local organizations. The rescued women are kept at District Hospital Gulariya and the accused is kept at the District Police Office Bardiya for further investigation.
