Baldev Yadav, Sanjay Sah, and Pradip Yadav—the ward chairperson of Biratnagar Municipality-14, Biratnagar Municipality-18, and Jahada Rural Municipality-1 respectively—have been accused of directing a violent physical assault of Samananda Yadav on June 15. Yadav died while undergoing treatment on July 11. Yadav was mercilessly beaten during a dispute over matchmaking for Yadav's son. Samandanda had promised of tying a knot to a girl's family but his son had rejected the arrangement. Samandanda then said that he could not stand up to the promise; therefore, the marriage could not happen. The group of Baldev Yadav pressurized Samanda for marriage. The proceeding took an ugly turn as Samananda was mercilessly beaten thereafter. Yadav's son, Rajesh Yadav, filed a complaint of physical assault against those three ward head on June 15.

However, the police denied to register the complaint. Rajesh then held a press conference to inform of the situation. The police registered the complaint but did not take any definite steps even after the press conference. The relatives of the deceased have protested in front of Koshi Zonal Hospital against inaction of the police in this matter on July 12. The locals accused the police o indifference of police toward the head's poliitcal connection.
