17-year-old Rohan Shah from Morang was arrested and punished by police when he started making a video of police closing weekly market being operated in ward number 5 of Pathari Shanischare Municipality defying the lockdown.
Police arrested Rohan who was sitting on the terrace of his house using the internet in his cell phone for taking a video of police trying to close the market. Rohan's father said that police made his son do squats and also slapped him.
Rohan's father said that police constable Harilal Rajbansi who was the in-charge punished his son. Constable Rajbansi asked Rohan to do 500 sit up but after 100 sit up he fell to the ground unable to continue further. Rohan was taken to the hospital and after primary treatment was sent home.
Rohan's house is close to Ward chairperson Jogbahadur Dhimal's house. Dhimal said that police behavior was not good.
Constable Rajbansi said that he did not punish Rohan but instead convinced him that lockdown rules should not be violated.
According to DSP Dilip Giri of Area Police Station Pathari constable Rajbansi has been taken into custody for further investigation.
