A police team that went to settle the incident of a Dalit woman being beaten by locals in Pokhariya of Katahariya Municipality-8 of Rautahat has been attacked.
In the attack, Sub-Inspector(SI) of Area Police Office Katahariya Surendra Singh, Constable Ram Chandra Tiwari, and policeman Ranjit Yadav were injured. A police team under the command of SI Surendra Singh of Area Police Office Katahariya went to Pokhariya on Friday night, based on information that some locals were beating a Dalit woman.
When the constable Ranjit Yadav arrested a person who was beating the woman, the police team was then attacked by almost two dozens people. After the attack, the villagers started throwing stones at the police. With the help of the Area Police Office, Garuda, four persons involved in the incident, are arrested, said SI Singh.
The arrestees are 25-year-old Shrichan Sah, 32-year-old Bachhelal Sah, 37-year-old Lalnabu Thakur, and 60-year-old Pratap Bikram Sah.
