Tensions have risen in the quarantine of a higher secondary school in Tilathi Koiladi rural municipality-7 of Saptari district. Occupants at the quarantine have chanted slogans and started a hunger strike against police brutality after a team of police entered the quarantine at midnight on Tuesday and beat the occupants.
Occupants allege that a police team led by Sub-Inspector Sanjay Singh of the local Parsain Police Post beat up occupants at quarantine at midnight. There are 73 people including 10 women in this quarantine.
Anu Kumari, a female occupant said that the police broke into the room at midnight and beat her indecently. Shiva Mukhiya, who is still in quarantine, said, "The policemen who came after drinking alcohol beat us for no reason." Quarantine in-charge Santosh Kumar Singh also said that the police entered quarantine at night and beat him up. According to the victims, the police had beaten them saying that all the Indians there should go away.
DSP Tilak Bharti has reached here from District Police Office Rajbiraj on Wednesday morning due to tension in the quarantine.
