Birgunj traders take off their shirts and pants in protest of tax payment

The traders of Birgunj demonstrated by taking off their shirts and pants in a symbolic protest against the government's order to pay tax during the lockdown period. They said that they would submit their clothes to the government.  

At around 4.30 pm today, a group of traders reached the clock tower of Birgunj and carried placards saying, "You can't kill traders, deduct all taxes." 

Rahbar Ansari, Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) for the Birgunj Metropolitan Committee, said that it was not possible to pay taxes when factories and shops were closed. According to him, the clothes taken out by the protesters will be sent to Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada through the Inland Revenue Office, Birgunj tomorrow.
