On Thursday, While trying to stop illegal quarrying in Devichour Chairman Prem Bahadur Thing and Secretary Murali Mahat of Giddhabir Community Forest User Committee were beaten by a local gang of 5 to 6 people. Unlicensed quarry industries have exploited the forest for road expansion in the name of development which has resulted in multiple landslides. Thing and Mahat reached the Quarrying spot after getting calls regarding the landslide. Both are undergoing treatment at Medicity Hospital Nakhu after sustaining multiple injuries. A complaint was filed at the Metropolitan Police Circle Chapagaun against the assault and Police Superintendent Tul Bahadur Karki of Metropolitan Police Jawalakhel is currently investigating the case.
