Businessmen in Surkhet boycotted banking business and closed the Birendranagar market on July 13 saying that they will not be able to pay the interest of the banks within a week of lifting lockdown and handed over a 27-point demand letter and a symbolic key to Karnali Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi. They are agitated as the banks pressurized them to pay interests even during the pandemic.
They have warned to do phased agitation programs if the government does not provide relief.
