Hindus and Christians clashed on July 18 when the dispute over the use of each other's pier escalated and some people have been injured. Both parties had been using the bank of Seti River situated at Pokhara-15, Patneri for cremation purposes according to their own tradition, Hindus burn corpses at the ghat, while Christians bury bodies nearby the ground.
Vice-Chairman Chitra Bahadur Bhandari of Siddheshwar Bhajan Mandal and the Conservation Committee said no personal or religious involvement was in the incident and have blamed the local government for creating disputes by ignoring the matter despite a number of letters written to Ward Chairman Prakash Poudel.
Both parties have demanded a permanent solution from the local government.
