On the initiative of women's rights activists, dozens of men and women of Baragadhi rural municipality staged a demonstration at district headquarter Kaliya on July 31 demanding strict action against the accused, Baidhanath Pandit Kumhar of Baragadhi Rural Municipality Ward-1 for murdering his 40-year-old wife, Radha Devi.

They staged the protest because some leaders were trying to prove the innocence of the accused. Slogans like, "Take action against the killer, stop violence against women', were chanted in the protest.
