Various struggle committees have locked the offices of four Intermediate Consumer Committees in Madi Municipality on August 2 against the torching and demolishing of Chepang Community's settlement in Chitwan National park.

Raj Kumar Nepali, leader of a struggle committee informed that the Bandar Jhula Squatters 'Struggle Committee, Kusumkhola Slum Management Struggle Committee and the Flood Victims' Settlement Management Struggle Committee have jointly demanded action against the employees involved in setting fire and demolishing the houses of the Chepang community.

After padlocking the office of the Intermediate Consumers Committee, the flood victims, squatters and Chepangs from Bandarjhula, Kusumkhola and other squatter settlements of Madi staged a sit-in in front of the Madi Municipal Office in Basantapur of Madi.
