2020-08-06

Madhes, Parsa, Birgunj

Chalitar Mahato (64) of Birgunj Metropolitan-11, Shripur was taken to National Medical College Teaching Hospital for treatment on the morning of August 6, 2020, but the hospital denied admitting him. The family of the deceased has blamed the hospital for his death.

According to the deceased’s brother Shambhu Mahato, after noticing some health issues on 5 August 2020, he was taken to National Medical College. The hospital had asked for a corona test report and denied admitting him unless provided with one.

Mahato had tested for corona on July 26 and 30. Both the times, his reports were negative.

The family couldn’t provide reports to the hospital due to the delay of Narayani Hospital, informed Shambhu Mahato. He said, on August 6, the ward chairperson had brought the report even after which the hospital had denied admitting the patient.

Dr. Pramod Sarraf, Superintendent of National Medical College Teaching Hospital has claimed this to be a false accusation. He said there is a system of checking the patient at the gate in the ambulance.
