Six Dalit youths have been beaten in Bode Barsain of Saptari district on Friday. The injured have been identified as 19- yer-old Jiten Ram, 20-yer-old Dipen Ram, 23-year-old Saroj Ram, 24-yer-old Sundar Ram, and 24-year-old Ramdular Ram and 25-year-old Ram Nandan Ram of Bode Bersain Municipality-10, Amaraiya Tol.

According to the injured, 40-year-old Daluwa Yadav, 21-year-old Jitan Yadav, 22-year-old Jitendra Yadav, 23-year-old Ranjan Kumar Yadav and 23-year-old Shiva Kumar Yadav and 23-year-old Chandan Yadav assaulted them. According to the police, a dispute broke out between the two after the accused snatched the key of Shyam Sundar Ram's motorcycle on Thursday evening. A team from the Area Police Office, Bode Barsain, had called off the altercation after the locals reminded both the parties to return home.

The controversy intensified after the accused started harassing Hari Ram on August 7. According to Pratham Lal Ram, Saptari District Chairman of the Joint Dalit Struggle Committee, the accused snatched the sticks and assaulted the Dalit youths who had come to protest after receiving information that Hari Ram is assaulted. Even the accused have sustained minor injuries in the beating.
