Cadres of NCP (Nepal Communist Party) Locals of Simraungadh Bazar in Bara staged a protest against the chief of Area Police Office Simraungadh, inspector Surendra Tamang on Tuesday accusing him of helping traders to smuggle goods from India, arresting and beating innocent civilians and letting criminals go scot-free. NCP cadres carried various placards and chanted slogans against the inspector in the demonstration.
Simraungadh area, which is connected to the Indian border, is considered to be an attractive source of external income for the police. To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the local administration issued a one-week prohibition order in the area. Demonstrator Gopal Thakur said that the police are focused on making money and the accused are et free while innocent are assaulted. From Home Minister to Ministry officials and even the Chief of the Police force ignored the complaint. As the NCP started to demonstrate, police have made the border area more strict from Monday night. Inspector Tamang claimed that the demonstrations against him are based on wrong allegations.
