Local leaders and residents of Siraha staged a protest at Siraha headquarters against the privatization of public land costing millions on the East-West Highway in Golbazar Municipality-9 with the help of political party leaders. The public land jointly passed in the name of Bina Chaudhari of Dhangadimai Municipality and Anita Shah of Siraha Municipality. The municipality filed a case in the District Court of Siraha in 2075 BS to void the decision to transfer the squatters' land in the name of non-squatters. However, the court also passed the land in the name of non-squatters. Hundreds of protesters agitated from the district police office to the gate of the district administration office in Siraha, chanting slogans. According to Ram Dayal Yadav, the leader of the protest, they handed over a memorandum to Chief District Officer Pradeepraj Kanel regarding the land.
