Supporters of Hark Sampang staged a sit-in protest in front of Dharan Mayor Tilak Rai's house demanding the release of Hark Sampang, who was arrested by the Area Police Office, Dharan on August 2 for vandalizing a pipe at a drinking water source in Dharan.
According to DSP Gyanendra Bahadur Basnet of the Area Police Office, Dharan, Sampang was agitating for drinking water in Dharan from a long time and also been handing over memorandums in the sub-metropolitan office. Sampang, on the other hand, said that the pipes of the drinking water corporation were taken away by the ADB project and without vandalizing he had opened and re-joined the pipe of the drinking water corporation. Chief of the Drinking Water Corporation Ram Kumar Shrestha, who is said to be involved with Sampang, has not been arrested.
