Police Charge Men for Filing False FIR

Okhaldhunga/ April 21 District Police Office, Okhaldhunga has filed a charge under Public Offence Act against the people filing wrong FIR on murder. The case was registered on April 21 against those who filed an FIR accusing three persons being involved in the killing of Gyan Bahadur Majhi of Palapu VDC-8 on the basis of the men wrongfully accused including Chitra Bahadur Majhi and his sons. Police said an FIR was filed against 19 including filing FIR, giving statement of murder of Gyan Bahadur, one of the accused, Madan Majhi said adding they complained against those filing FIR against them and making them confess after torture. Their complaint names Bhupal Majhi who filed the FIR, local teacher Hari Prasad Bhandari who planned to file the FIR, Gyan Bahadur Majhi who was supposed to have been killed but actually was in India remaining out of contact, Peshal Magar, Tilak Ghimire, Binita Majhi, Chandika Majhi, Chyaunki Majhi, Sobha Majhi, Goma Majhi and Chini Majhi who tortured the tri into confessing that they had abducted and killed Gyan Bahadur. District Police Office said they had to file the case under Public Offence Act as there is no law to invoke to take action against people who stage abduction and death and frame innocent people on that false charge. Police had arrested Chitra Bahadur, Madan, Kamal and Surendra Majhi on February 11 and all but Surendra were remanded in custody on February 15. However, the supposedly murdered Gyan Bahadur returned home on April 13 leading to release of the men kept in custody on April 16.
