Police on Tuesday fired shots to arrest opium smugglers in  Musikot Municipality-4, Tharadhunga,  Rukum West. Police have arrested 25-year-old Nirmal Pun after he tried to attack police on duty.  Pun sustained bullet injuries to his left leg.

He was referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment after getting primary treatment in District Hospital, Rukum West. Similarly, police also arrested 35-year-old Laxmi Pun from the area. Police said another drug dealer  Jayaprakash Pun was absconded.  DSP Thag Bahadur KC of DPO Rukum West said a joint police team deployed from Rukum East and Rukum West shot at them during the operation. Further investigation of the incident will be carried out by the police from Rukum East. Police also seized some quantity of opium and other materials from them.
