The local administration has fined three shops in Birgunj with Rs 110,000. A market monitoring team led by Dilip Khankhatwe, an official of the Commerce Supply and Consumer Protection Office, imposed a fine of Rs 110,000 on three shops on Sunday.
Sumitra Traders and Suppliers in Pangalli of Birgunj has been fined Rs 50,000 and New Santosh General Store in Pangalli, Jai Pan Shop St. and New Hariom Grocery Store in Ranighat have been fined Rs 20,000 each.
A monitoring team comprising food inspectors and police from the District Administration Office monitored the food and grocery stores in Pangalli and Ranighat on Sunday. During the monitoring, it was found that the three shops did not have a price list, could not provide purchase and sale bills and had expired items.
