Transportation entrepreneurs of Krishnapur Municipality, Kanchanpur, blocked the East-West Highway today, protesting against the road tax fee. Vehicles have not been able to operate on the road since noon after the blockade.  

The vehicle owners under the leadership of Nepali Congress have started an agitation against Municipality after the contractor started collecting money from trucks, tractors, auto-rickshaws, jeeps and other means of transportation. The municipality has signed a contract worth Rs. 1 million to collect road service tax.
