A 23-year- old woman in Dandafaya in Simikot Municipality-7 was forced to walk around the village wearing a garland of shoes and face painted black by the community members, who accused her to have an immoral relationship with her 26- year-old brother-in-law.
The incident came to light when the victim filed a complaint against the torture and ill-treatment (hair shaved, beaten and forced to eat defecates) in the District Police Office.
According to DSP Suryaprakash Subedi of the District Police Office, they have arrested Dhan Bahadur Shahi, 30, Hari Bahadur Shahi, 35, Sher Bahadur Shahi, 31, and Matvir Singh, 34, on the charges of inhumane treatment for beating the victim and carrying out various criminal activities.
Further, Sarita Bohara (senior health worker) informed the INSEC representative that the victim was examined at the District Hospital and sustained minor injuries.
