Vidya Wari of Surjigaun in Nepalgunj-19 found out that her 7-year-old daughter had been abused by her neighbour Ram Kumar Kalwar for two months. At first, she did not dare to tell anyone for fear of losing the dignity of her daughter and the family. But again when on August 18, Ram Kumar Kalwar's son Nanda Kalwar tried to sexually abuse her daughter she reached the District Police Office, Banke on August 24 demanding action against Ram Kumar. But DPO Banke however, refused to register the complaint according to Wari. The police instead threatened to arrest her for bringing the charges against Kalwar.
