The people from various media outlets led by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) protested in front of the Department of Information and Broadcasting in Tilganga, Kathmnadu by lighting lanterns on October 12 to pressurize government to fulfill its responsibility for the rights and interests of journalists in this pandemic situation. The fired journalists are now agitating and even FNJ has expressed solidarity with their movement
The protestors alleged that under the pretext of Corona, various media outlets fired journalists, inflicted them with various kinds of problems, did not pay them on time and put them on unpaid leave. They also expressed that if government do not show readiness to solve the problem, they would be compelled to hold such programs to create more pressure.
