42-year-old Bhadiya Devi Malah, of Dakneshwari Municipality-3, was arrested by the police on October 15 on the charge of trafficking a 15-year-old girl to India. The incident of trafficking came out only after the girl came to Nepal while the search for other accused is underway.
A complaint was lodged at the District Police Office by the victim's mother on October 11 and registered the next day against a lady along with her 45-year-old husband Utimalal Malah, and 19-year-old son Santosh Mukhiya accusing them of abducting the girl on August 17 and taking her to India for trafficking.
According to the victim, the accused Santosh took her to Jhaurhi Chowk in Lokhi, Madhubani district of Bihar, India and took her to Delhi Railway Station on August 20. Santosh and his aunt along with her son got on the bus and reached an unknown place. They lost contact with her after exchanging money with two strangers.
She was kept in the village of Lakhanpatti in Vegusarai, Bihar by unknown persons but she fled the place through the open window after a week. She stayed in a child protection unit in Samstipur with the help of a local for a year. Inspector Kushram Karki informed that the Child Protection Unit contacted GNF organization on September 15 and handed her over to her parents in Nepal.
