26-year-old Bardesh Bhandari of Laxminiya Rural Municipality-1 was arrested by the Area Police Office, Mahendranagar, on October 19, on a charge of sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl.
According to the 22-year-old sister of the victim, the accused Bhandari had entered the house of the victim and tried to sexually abuse the girl on the night of October 8 while under the influence of alcohol.
The accused Bhandari was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim at the Area Police Office, Mahendranagar on October 10 and the incident is being investigated, said Inspector Deepak Rai of the Area Police Office, Mahendranagar.
After filing a complaint against the accused at the Area Police Office, Mahendranagar, the accused Bhandari's brother Nirgun Bhandari pressured the victim's father and sister to withdraw the complaint and threatened to kill them if they do not withdraw the complaint.
The girl has been examined at the Provincial Hospital, Janakpurdham on October 9.
